About Me
I received my first telescope, a 60mm refractor from Jason Telescopes,as a gift when I was 12 years old. It was my buddy over many nights of observations out in the country SE of Salem, Oregon where we lived. The closest light was a mile away and the view was just fantastic. Not knowing much about telescopes and what I could see, I made my way by the seat of my pants and vowed to get a better scope someday. I currently have a 13.5" F7 mirror from a scope I bought in a box for a project to build a nice truss tube in the future, and  a 6" f 8 Dob for a general all around use and star parties for public.

I still consider myself pretty green on this whole hobby.

Kayaking, sailing, fishing and hunting.
Ham Radio, I got my first callsign (KA7GNQ) in 1979 and currently operate on the VHF and HF bands as much as I have time for. Its a great way to talk to people and share interests and hobbies.
Coast Guard Auxiliary, I am currently the Flotilla 76 Staff Officer for Nav Services here in Portland and we are starting up a detatchment here in Scappoose this year.

Favorite Sky Object
Hmm, thats a tough one, The constellation of Orion has been my companion for many years, as I walked to the barn to do chores every morning and evening out on our farm growing up, but M13 has always held a place in my heart too because of its size an

Comments about where I live
We live on a floating home in the Multnomah Channel near the town of Scappoose, Oregon. Night viewing on the river is good, except for everybodys night lights. But have a big open field to view from, and Portland is 19 miles to the SE, some light from there polluting the skies. But not to bad as observing sights go.
