Okay, so it's been a while... I finally broke down and bought a set of binoculars. I bought a set of Nikon Action Extreme 10x50s. They were spendy, but when I looked through all the other cheap ones and there was no comparison. The 17.2mm eye relief is nice because I can have clear viewing with or without my glasses.
My first night I found a few objects. The coolest objects were M7 and Andromeda Galaxy. The moon is messing things up this week but I hope to see some dark sky near the end of the month. I'm learning the big stars and a few constellations. I can see that I'm going to need to take better notes as I am starhopping. I spotted plenty of other objects but I can't remember them now. I think I spotted the ham sandwich cluster, but that may have been the sleep deprivation.

Wow it's been a while again. I looked at the moon tonight with my free Bushnell telescope. I also discovered that the bright star was not really a star, but Jupiter. I did not realize until tonight that Jupiter has moons. I was able to count 3 on one side and I think a fourth on the other. Not to bad for a crappy scope that takes forever to train on anything.
