Tonight was a particularly good night for tracking. It was a decent night for seeing and focusing came pretty easily.

I'm still using Nebulosity for both focus and acquisition, but my images are turning out green still. I need to try and figure out what is going on there.

Switching to grayscale isn't so bad though and the images may even contain a bit more detail when viewed in shades of gray.

I'm still struggling with getting flats to work right (both in taking them and applying them), so these images have the vignetting problem I've had from the beginning. It's just that it's more evident when I'm trying to pull out what little data in the object there is.

Here are the images from tonight:

M101
I really needed to get more exposure time on this one, but it went behind the house too quickly. I need to plan my evening better.
Scope: Hardin 12" (300mm) Deep Space Hunter @ f/5
Camera: Canon EOS 350 Digital Rebel XT (unmodified)
Special Settings: None
ISO: 1600
Exposure: 5.75 minutes total
Processing Software: Acquired in Nebulosity, Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker, Levels, Curves and in Photoshop
Resolution: 50% (no cropping)

Once again, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome, but I can see how when taking images of galaxies I need a lot more data. At the astrophotography conference I went to earlier this year they suggested you need a *minimum* of 1 hour's worth of light frame acquisition.

I'm still a long ways from getting that much data. I'm happy to get beyond 2 or 3 minutes worth!
